Train Tickets, Bus Tickets, Johnny Cash :)

After we made it back to the hotel from our boat trip, we decided to go to the train station and buy our tickets to Cairo for the next day. Unfortunately this is impossible, the man at the ticket counter said, "no tickets until Wednesday" Shit! So we walked away wondering what the hell we would do. We walked back to our hotel and lounged around for a while, had a beer and food, then went to sleep. Here is short clip of our walk back to the hotel. It was fun.

The next day (Saturday) while hanging around the hotel, we ran into British Dave, a nice man whos been living in Luxor since he retired at least 10 years ago. Dave is a world of knowledge and contacts. He informed us of SuperJet bus lines. Later we went to the bus station to buy a ticket and learned that they had sold out 5 minutes prior. We asked to buy tickets for the next days bus, but we couldn't do that either. You must buy the tickets the same day as travel. Ok then, I was told they open at 0930 tomorrow and I could buy tickets then. We all head back to the hotel for more Egyptian beer, food, some swimming, then went to bed.

Well I woke up Sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt. And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert.... Just kidding.

Its about 0930, Heidi, Dave and I get a micro-bus to the bus station. We arrived around 0940 and no one is there! Dave calls the number posted on the door, which is the ticket officer's cell phone. He informs Dave that today he will be opening at 1100...Great - back to the hotel.

After passing time lounging around the hotel, I decide to go back to the bus ticket office with Dave while Heidi worked on updating the blog. Surprise!...its 1100 and he's still not there. Finally around 1135 he shows up. Once and for all we have our way to Cairo. What a process :)

Here's a couple pics we snapped walking back from the ticket office. A little Arizona, and an outdoor meat shop.

Glad to be Vegetarian!
